Jin Xing Dance Theatre: Made in China- Return of the Soul

Shanghai Jin Xing Dance theatre brings its original, multi-media work "Made in China – Return of the Soul" back to the Shanghai stage two years after its premier. The work combines contemporary dance with visual art and includes a tailor-made musical score. The dance reflects the rapid transformations in modern China, while at the same time drawing on China’s most famous Kun Opera "The Peony Pavilion", especially its leading character Du Liniang. Du's yearning for love is starkly contrasted by the pressures of modern life, therefore masterfully linking traditional customs and culture to the modern age. Visually striking, beautifully narrated and thought-provoking, “Made in China – Return of the Soul” plays for two nights at Shanghai Grand Theatre and should not be missed.
